Shia Qaramitha; Kabah destroyer
Al Hafidz Ibn Kathir in (Al Bidayah wa Al Nihayah, vol. 11, p. 149) tells of the events of the year 312 H of the month of Muharram,
Abu Thahir Al Husain bin Abu Sa'id Al Janabi - may Allah curse him - attacked the pilgrims who were on their way home from the Kaaba and had fulfilled the hajj obligation. They robbed and killed them. Victims also fell in very large numbers - only God knows. They also arrest their women and children as they please and seize their property as they wish.
Ibn Kathir also told in the year 317 H, the Shi'a Qaramithah had stolen the stone from the Kaaba. In that year, a group from Iraq led by Manshur Ad Daimamy came to Mecca peacefully. Then on the day of tarwiyah, the Qaramithah attacked them, seized property and killed it in the Grand Mosque, in front of the Kaaba. The pilgrims scattered. Among them were those who held onto the Ka'aba cloth. But it is not useful for them. Qaramithah people continue to kill people. When finished, the Qaramithah disposed of the victims at the Zamzam well and places in the Grand Mosque.
Zamzam qubbah was destroyed, the door of the Kaaba was removed and the kiswah was released and then torn up. They also took the black stone and took it to their country. For twenty-two years the black stone was in their hands until they returned it back in 339 AH.
